Tuli:What is it like outside?
Ify:Oh my goodness, I have not been able to have proper sleep, everything has changed, it’s been wonderful. It has been really nice; it has been stressful, trying to run around, catch up, being thankful, showing appreciation to everyone who showed love and support during Big Brother.
HelgaDT:What has Big Brother taught you?
Ify:Big Brother has taught me a lot of things. I went with an open mind…I call the house a school, I learned a lot. I learned to never say never…there are certain things I thought I would never do and I did. I learned to stay strong; stay focused; learn from everyone; patience; endurance; being able to appreciate things that I used to take for granted; I wanted to be remembered as someone who came out a different person, like a school, where you learn completely different things.
jenna:Who was your favourite/ least favourite Housemate?
Ify: (Laughs) Lots of favourites; Sandy is a crazy girl, she is someone I really like, and I got close to her; she opened up. Frank was also very close to me. Gideon and I got very close, and Katung. I think everyone was different, I wouldn’t say I have a least favourite, what you put in is what I will give back.
matseliso:Who are you going to be taking on your trip to Dublin?
Ify:I want to take my brother… I want him to have an experience with me.
Richard:Who is Ify outside the Big Brother House?
Ify: Ify is still the same, I am just trying to catch up with the outside world…being in there for 91 days has not been easy, but still the same. Ify is a strong person.
larai: What’s up with the accent?
Ify:My accent…it is something from my school, I have been carrying, keeping up a standard…I would say that is how I am…If I tried to blend and change (myself) then that would not be real. Why would the way I speak be an issue? That is who the person is, that is what I appreciate, whoever you are, wherever you are, I take you for who you are, let it not be an issue.
Uchenwa:What were your best and worst moments in the House?
Ify:My best moments (I have three) 1.The very first day, when we did the make-up concept. I didn’t know that there was a prize, then the winner was me, I was like ‘Oh My God’… you gotta make it work, I have to step up my game.
2. The fashion show was fantastic, having to make a dress, pricking my fingers… I was so happy, it was a challenge and everyone did it, even though we thought we couldn’t.
3. When Jay Jay Okocha came to the House. He is my favourite footballer in the world…I appreciated every visitor we had… I was so happy, there were so many…I also ‘enjoyed’ Bootcamp. It wasn’t fun, but it was training.
My worst: The paper maché oh boy…that paper maché week was the worst.
Julius:How do you feel about Katung winning?
Ify:I told him that hey, everyone came in here the same, everybody had a reason, you played the game well, you did well. I remember when Gaetano said to us “Who do you want to win?” He has so many things he wants to do with his life; I hope he is going to remain that way. I am glad that he got the money. But everyone is a winner and everyone is going to do well.
Zainab: Have you seen the other Housemates?
Ify:Honestly we haven’t done any catching up, yesterday I spent time with Mudiaga, the only person I have spoken to is Frank…
Blessing:What was your strategy?
Ify:I didn’t go in with a strategy; I went in to learn; whatever you give I give back…no strategy.
Dianne: What is happening with Katung?
Ify:As a woman, being in the House, look at Katung! He was someone I would say I got close to. I tried to block him off but I saw a genuine happiness when we were together. Like I said, what you give me is what I give back. I [felt] like… you don’t get this often, I decided to let him come into my life, come in and understand me. He is my very good friend; he is someone I had an understanding with. It is not easy in the House… physically, mentally…There are ways to handle situations…sometimes when I was blue he would talk to me. He talks to me first, he comes to me and talks to me, and we got very attached. He is going to remain my very special friend. I love Mudiaga, he has been with me through thick and thin…We are sorting things out. We are all adults. Katung will always be very special to me (but) Mudiaga is my boyfriend and we will sort everything out, there is life after BBN.
kaniqua: What talents do you have that we didn’t see on screen?
Ify: (Laughs) I think I like to take care of people, I believe in beauty on the inside. I want to have a place where people can come and leave differently. I want to become very good at makeovers. I love colours, I love presenting- I did that once, I love that! I would like to be a wardrobe person… Before I went in I wanted to go into make-overs…I like just talking, making people realise who they are, just putting a smile on people’s faces. I love that ‘thing’ you say that will just give them a boost, just touching someone. I intend to make an NGO. I will also maybe try singing…(laughs) No! No! That is a joke!
Jenny:What are your plans for the future?
IfyOf course, that is also the essence of being in the House, sell yourself. If it works for someone and they actually say ‘what kind of brand should I be?’ (then it has worked) I believe in growth, that is what I want. I have Banke Meshida as a role model, she is a make-up artist, she is well known in Nigeria. I am taking a lead from her, I am following in her footsteps, she started somewhere and now she has her own makeup line, that is what I intend doing… but I am open to options…presenting- I love presenting. That is something that gives me (joy)…I love to play with colours, that is something I enjoy doing. Maybe a little bit of acting…
Baya:Have you always been a style queen?
Ify:(laughs) Like I said, I like to be different, I like colours, I like to just create something. One of the other Housemates said to me: “I don’t think your clothes fitted in your suitcase.” But I just combine my clothes, and you probably think I am wearing something different. You just add a belt…bow…something. I wake up and say ‘today I will try something different, and it comes out nice. My mom is stylish in a different way, she started to make me up. She told me I should be different, have your own style. That’s Ify.
BBN Web: Do you have any messages for the fans?
Oh yes, absolutely. I am so grateful, I appreciate every single bit of support…There is something you saw that I didn’t see, thank you for seeing that. Hold onto that… I love you all.
One of the great things about Ify seems to be her ability to laugh at herself. As a parting shot she tells me: “Somebody said to me ‘We will make a ring tone ‘Oh my God, oh my God’…I think it is a good idea…”
